The Best gift you can give your Father is Love and Care – Sai dream for Father’s Day

Sairam friends,

Shirdi Sai Baba really exits. Trust me. He does. When ever you are depressed or worried you might ask Sai

“Are you listening to my prayers? Then why are you not helping me?”

Life takes into the jungle of desires and needs constantly and Guru alone is a guide who can guide us with the right path. Sometimes Sai won’t be directly helping you to solve your problems but will be guiding you to do any good deed so that when you do it, Your sins will be washes away and Sai will have more chances to help you better.

Shirdi Sai Baba is a Guru who lets the Law of Karma work on us to an extant until your devotion touches his heart. Sometimes, Its very hard to explain why Sai is silent when you worship him with intense devotion. All I request is please use this time to involve in any good deeds.

1. You can do little volunteering or any favor’s you could afford in near by Orphanage, Old age homes, Schools etc

* Doing good means doing it right. So if you trust any organization or place alone, get involved or better sit at home.

2. You can read any spiritual books, Motivating or inspiring books which can heal you internally. I suggest try some Swami Vivekananda Books and also books about Shirdi Saibaba like Sai Satcharitra .

3. You can listen to Sai Aarti, Any Mantra/Sloka or simply any peaceful instrumental music

4. You can simply meditate. Think about Sai or any Guru/Gods you love, close your eyes and meditate deeply for 10 minutes to an hour

5. Do Naam Smaran – Chanting of Gods or Saints name – Sai Ram, Sai Ram, Sai Ram in mind. I keep telling my lifetime about the greatness of Naam Smaran.

When you do all the above I mentioned and any other way to keep your mind occupied in good ways, certainly you will be able to have patience until your time comes.

Now, the reason why I said Sai really exits is this..

I am really worried these days and wish Sai does a Leela soon. I used to ask Baba “Are you are worried about me and my parents wish to get me married? Show me the right girl”

Sai never bothers me …he he

But then Sai does guide me. Not directly for what I asked but for what Sai wishes I must do.

Shirdi Sai Baba dream for Father’s day:

This morning I had a dream as if one of my friends Dad is really worried and he was sad. Then suddenly I saw my Father and Sister coming to call me. We go in Lift and surprisingly water which are splashing on my father’s leg forcefully makes him loose balance. I look at my Dad with fear and suddenly he sits down as he was about to fall. By Sai grace my father and sister were safe.

I woke up and wondered what Sai means by this dream. Since Father’s day is nearing I thought Saibaba wanted me to do something to tell the world the greatness of Father.

Sai Inspired me to create SaiMother.com

So now its time to do something for Fathers around the world. The past one year I was thinking about creating a website where people realize the importance of Taking care of their parents as they get old and requires support of their adult children.

India is today vibrant with many youngsters and ranked one of the most youthful country of all due to our growing young population. Its really good for our economy because all of us are going to be productive – Working Population and can contribute to the Nation.

So what will happen when this Youngsters grow up?

They complete their studies, get into a good Job or business and mostly might migrate to various cities or countries due to fulfill their dreams and aspirations to earn big. Even the youngsters who live in the same city and house with their parents will be occupied with loads of work and of course stuff which seem to be million times more important than taking care of their parents.

At one point, We all have to face a situation where we need to take care of our parents.

It might happen when you are still young due to some health issues for your Mother or Father or when your parents really get health issues due to their old age. In most families, Children naturally care for their parents good health and comforts the when they get sick.

I was in Chennai and Mumbai for few years perusing my dream career but when my Mom got sick, I felt really pained and wanted to have a career in Coimbatore so that I can take care of my parents. I honestly, do nothing for my parents sitting in home but my presence makes them feel better.

Most parents sacrifice everything they have for the welfare of their Children.

Your Father took care of your little needs

He gave you best education

He got you all that you desire when you were a child and as you grew up

He gave you enormous Love that he alone knows is precious

“Fatherly love can be expressed by your brother, boy friend or husband but your father alone knows what it is”

I wanted to combine the greatness of Father along with message of Parent Care which gave birth to StarSai Mom and Dad

Its going to be support site for StarSai and I apologize for any uncomfortable ads. The good part about it is that its  carries
“Care for Parents” message in the “about us “page.

Now lets talk about my Appa

Story of my Father:

My Father has always been a inspiration to me especially because I have never seen him idle. He always does some work either for us or other neighbors after his retirement.  Being one among eight children in a south Indian village, my Father had to bear lots of family burden during his school days.

My Father used to tell me about his past memories…

My Grandpa had some health issues when my Dad was in 10th class. Seems it was hard for my grandma to even feed all the children. So my Dad used to travel to near by village first in cycle, park it and take a bus to a distant village to get some grains/Finger millet in a sack. Seems he had to wait for several hours to take a private bus and the conductor will scold him being a small boy for carrying huge bag and getting into the crowded bus.

I always wondered why my Father left various other Jobs and loved to work in the State Transport Corporation. He told me about it several years later when he was hospitalized.

When he was a Kid, Bus facilities were really bad in India especially in Villages. He was treated harshly by these conductors and had some determination in him that someday in his life, he will be a Manager in for a Transport corporation.

Those days people start their career with practical knowledge. My Dad had worked under the Bus, repairing it in during cold weather…so chill that their nails will start to bleed. Later he grew as Junior Engineer , remained as Assistant Manager during most of our schooling days and became a Deputy Manager when he got retired.

When ever I used to tell him that I don’t like what’s happening at work or any thing that irritates me, he used to tell me

‘I was managing 2000 Drivers and conductors, several mechanics and engineers. If I don’t do it adjusting all situation, then you would have not been in this state”

Several years after my Father’s retirement, even today if any of his colleagues spots him while we go out, I could feel the respect he has earned amongst them.

The only thing I could find bad about my Father was his addiction to Smoking cigarettes.

My Dad quit Smoking after 50 years. So can you:

I have always seen my Father with a pack of Cigarette with him or a Glass of Coffee or Tea. He loves it so much. Cigarette was like his friend.  I have got beatings from him when I was a child for throwing away cigarette packs and asking him not to smoke. Me and my Sister used to plead him not to smoke but he never listed. He suffered a lot right from his childhood and somehow the habit of smoking was entertaining him.

One of the reason I never had any interest to smoke or drink might be because of My Mom telling me not to do it when I was in school. I promised her I won’t and naturally there are many guys like me who fortunately doesn’t get interested in these stuff.

At the same time, I never hate smokers or drinkers because these are habitual which are hard to stop. Just that I hate people who cross their limit.

In 2011, My Father was diagnosed with some health issues and he was really in pain. I just returned from Saibaba temple and saw my father loudly singing Lord Murugan’s songs from Thirupugal. My Dad never sings aloud . He silently reads the book and keeps it down every morning.

My Mom and myself kept asking him what happened and he finally told he has some pain. The whole night, I was near him chanting some mantra in mind. The next morning was Thai Poosam auspicious for Lord Murugan. My Dad usually goes to this Virundeeswarar Shiva temple and offer Garland to Dakshinamurthy every thursday.

Sacrificing my Favorite Tea for my Father !

I wanted to go to the temple but I told him, Since he is sick,I shall go on his behalf. I went to the temple and prayed Murugan to save my father. I have heared Gods will be answering our prayers if we quit something dear to us.

I love Tea a lot and often have Tea when ever I wish.  My friends in Sai mandhir used to tease me saying ]

“Venkatku tea vaangi kudutha edha vena pannuvaam” …

“Get a single tea for venkat. He will do everything for you”…he he..

I love Tea so much. So i prayed Murugan that I will stop having tea for lifetime for God to Save my Father”

I came home and told my Mom “I am not going to have Tea here after”

We got him admitted in the hospital and we went through a surgery. He had to be inside the Hospital for 5 days which was the first time in 50 years he was not able to smoke. I was really surprised and told him

“Appa, All these years you said that you can’t control now its proved you can. So better quit smoking now”

My Father never answered positively and just blinked at me as if I am asking huge treasure from him.

We got discharged and came home. I thought my Father will continue to smoke. He came inside the home and said

“I am trying to distract myself when ever I am tempted to smoke. Get me some snacks”.

When ever he was tempted to smoke, he had coffee, tea or some snacks.

All us were very happy. I called my Sister in U.S and told her ‘Appa quit Smoking’ .

She was happy too and also my Mom.

Only the first few weeks it was difficult for my Dad to keep away from smoking. Even I felt pity and said, If you want reduce gradually. He said “No if i touch it, then I can’t control. So let me leave it”

Have you seen any Doctors advising not to smoke? I have only seen doctors who never advice my Dad to quit smoking. Seems, These doctors knew patient will not quit smoking that easily and they never bother them with such rules.  They just treat them and say a word just for name sake.

The urologist is our close relative who knows about Star Sai. He was also surprised to know that my Father quit smoking. Appa told him

‘I started when I was 16 years old and Now I am 66. So it was hard to leave a 50 year old habit”

The Doctor asked me to write about it in StarSai and said, It will inspire many people who are trying to quit smoking.

I never did it the past 3 years but today, Felt like writing.

The reason I am writing it today is because I wish to tell the world the secret of Love.

You can’t change someone with harsh words but you can do it with love.

The Day before surgery my Father came out with me for walking out in the street. He was telling me about his child hood memories about the Bus incident I wrote earlier which is why he wanted to be a Manager in Transport and about his sufferings in childhood etc.

Something very good about my Dad is he never asks me to get him a Pack of Cigarette even when he is sick or busy etc. For first time in my life since my Dad was too sick and the next day having a Surgery he asked me to get a pack of cigarette.

I wanted to tell him No but he was already nervous due to surgery. So I wanted to make him feel relaxed and went to Shop. I came back with two Packs of Cigarette and kept it in his palm.

He asked me “Why you bought two?”

I said “You like it Pa…You smoke and he smoked”

While he was smoking I told him

“I need you with me and if you continue to smoke its not good for your health. Think about me”

He told me ‘I am trying to leave this habit. Don’t speak as if I am not”

Then he asked me to keep the rest in my Bag. After surgery as I wrote earlier he could not freely come out of the Hospital. So no chances of Smoking at all.

Father got discharged and we reached home. I had a fear that he is going to smoke again and he didn’t

Father never quit smoking all these years when I was harshly fighting with him or pleading with him not to smoke.

When I told him  “I need you with me Pa”

He knew what I mean and he wanted to live for me.

You can change someone with love and this is the power of Love.

Tell your Mom and Dad that you love and and need them forever. Take care of them as they get old and when they feel sick.

“You can sacrifice anything to take care of parents because they sacrificed everything to take care of you when you were young.

Now, Its your turn.”

That’s what I wrote in Fatherly

The Best gift you can give your Father is Love and Care – Sai dream for Father’s Day

About Father’s Day:

Father’s Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society.

I wrote story of my Father today because I feel Sai want’s me to do something to make the world realize the greatness of Father. There’s no gift on Earth that can match the love your Dad showed on you.

There’s little message in Fatherly site about caring for parents which you might find preachy. I just wish to inspire people to love their parents and take good care of them.

Few years back I had a dream of Lord Nataraja coming into our house and assured me

“Even if you have a single drop of tears in your eyes, I can’t bear it”

I feel its my Father’s heart !

Because my father too cannot bear when I shed tears.

I wish to dedicate the below song to Sai devotees who love their parents

Thanks to the devotee Krishnakumar for uploading and translation.

Purusha Suktam – the Source of all – know the essence of the Vedas.

Its 1.51 at Night. I worked all this day to do something in StarSai for Father’s Day. My Father asked me to get Dates fruit for him when I come back from Saibaba temple. Surprisingly I got prasad of a dates fruit and gave it to my Mom and Dad along with the pack I bought for him.

    Om sai ram

  • I just do not know how to express the affection of my father towards his children, especially myself, as my Appa is living with me only, after my mother’s departure to heavenly abode. My father, a simple gentle person, with lots of good qualities in him and has been a great pillar of strength to me and my children after sudden passing away of my dear husband. He helps me in all daily chores, like buying groceries, vegetables etc. etc. cutting vegetables and any other works which I would not have done during the day, as I am working woman, and I feel guilty that I am not able to reciprocate his kind gestures the way he does for me. He is extremely good in singing bhajans/namasankeertanam and also have taught my son. He is always happy to take part in any cultural activities and today his age is 87 years old, but still a young chap of 17, with so much of enthusiasm and bubbly dynamism with cheerful disposition. I can say that he is the great guiding force to me and my children and I pray that he should live for more than 100 years healthily. I see my Dad as Sai Baba who is present in him and I bow to his lotus feet for ever. Let every one be blessed with Father as mine in this world. Venkat, I am touched to read about your sweet Father and is a nice dedication on Father’s Day. May your parents lead a happy healthy life for ever. Glory be to to Sai’s Lotus Feet, Grace be to All. Affectionately,
    Shankari
