About
the Shirdi sai baba photography : I must write about a
old man in our house called Dhottappa who helps my mom in cleaning
out side house, watering plants and doing lots of house hold works
.He also brings packet milk for few houses in our colony every morning
and evening. We pay him very little and also share our food with
him. what i have understood from him is that one must be sincere
in his work and do it with total dedication .He is an example of
Karma Yoga.
Though he is not a rocket scientist or a doctor , i still felt
he has a lesson to teach all of us. Even when my parents were in
USA for 6 months, he was sincere and came to our house every morning
at 7 o clock.Everyday i can hear the sound of someone sweeping and
cleaning out side the house and working in the garden. He was the
one who missed my parents when they were in US and counted dates
for their arrival back to home. Such a great devoted personality
who must have been president of United states was working in our
house washing vessels. My comparision might be funny but this is
how i see life.
The reason i wrote about this old man Dhottapa here is that , he
was watering a plan for months togather and one fine day there were
beautiful white flowers .He said "Vengadeshu ( he called me
that way instead of venkat ) , take photos of these flowers today
itself ,they are beautiful..." There was another pot of same
plant where flowers were yet to grow...So he said "That plant
will have flowers by the time your parents comes back "
i dont want to ignore the desire of this old man.So immediately,
i plucked these little white flowers, some hibiscus, kept the statue
of shirdi sai baba i got in shirdi , arranged it near the window
in my room and took few pictures.... I felt like sharing these pictures
with a small message about offerings to Sai. Of all offerings in
hinduism , the most common and most beautiful offering we all do
is "Flowers" and Garlands.....so this page is all about
"Vvalue of offering flowers to Goddess" and little bit
of philosophy behind it.
Offering flowers to God, Goddess
, Saints and concept of "circle of blessings " :
I really wish to write my feelings about offerings made to God
, Goddess and saints. We all do it because flowers are natures gift
as an expression of Affection , Love ,Frinedship, Gratitude and
Devotion. When i was a kid me and my sister used to pluck little
jasmine flowers and hibiscus from the plants and offer it to the
God and Goddess statues and photos in our house.
Its the most common expression of devotion to all who follow idol
worship. I just felt like writing down few reasons why offering
flowers makes us closer to divinity
1. Offerings of any kind done with pure heart is powerful but as
flowers are also beautiful, it takes our minds attention one step
towards the Gods photo or statue. This gives our mind another reason
to keep our eyes on statue .Indirectly it
hooks our attention only on God.
2.When ever we offer flowers in temple ,we must feel if not us
atleast the flowers we offered has touched and been very close the
sacred statues .So when we offer flowers to Goddess in temple, we
must keep our mind pure and have a good thought because our thoughts
will be embeded in the flowers we hold in hands.
If your thoughts are pure, then the Goddess will accept your flower
whole heartedly and bless you with all her grace.
3.Another good thing about offering flowers in temple is that sometimes
the priest will give the flowers as prasad to other women devotees.Women
likes to have flowers and consider it as a blessings from God.It
makes a women feel happy. So when the flowers
you offered to Goddess is taken by the priest and offered to other
women , indirectly its like a blessing for you.
The reason is that you have made a women feel happy because she
has got flowers from priest which surely is an ashirwad..When ever
i offer flowers to Goddess and Shirdi saibaba, i used to think that
when the priest offers it to other women, it will be a blessing
for my mother. This is how i feel the circle of blessings works.....What
ever we do must directly or indirectly bring happiness into others
heart.
Bring smile in a womens heart -
It pleases the Goddess and Sai :
In Kalyug we must use spirituality , rituals, pooja and all these
activities in such a way that it brings peace not only to us but
also directly or indirectly touches other lives and brings peace
of mind to them. Thus when a flower you offer
to Goddess is inturn given to another women devotee as a prasad
by the priest, you have been an instrument in brining some kind
of "Smile" on her face .If not in her face surely
she will have a satisfaction of getting the flowers as prasad and
smile in her heart.
You offer flowers to Goddess thinking its a blessing for you but
the real blessing has come as the priest has offered the same flower
to some other women devotee as prasad which made her happy. Hope
i made you understand "circle of blessings " concept.
Please remember to offer flowers and garlands when ever you go
to temple.
When ever you celebrate birthdays and other important functions,
please whole heartedly offer flowers to Goddess and Sai baba statues
and saibaba photos.
May shirdi sai baba bless you with a peaceful and happy life like
the colourful flowers you offer for him
