Dress code when you go to temple

Sairam friends,

I reached Coimbatore after a week in Mumbai. My Sai Baba darshan in Shirdi was peaceful. I have to start writing the article about my experiences. Since its going to be a long article, please allow me few days to work on it. I met some wonderful Sai children in Mumbai and also felt thankful for all they did to me.

Something I ate on the day of my return or the food I had in flight has made me get sick. Thankfully, Sai saved me from getting sick when I was away from home. I also feel sad that my Father is not well. Since I got a new Sai Baba statue in Shirdi, I am sure Baba will heal my Father.

When I was in Shirdi, I saw most of the Men and Women were wearing decent looking dress. Only few did not bother about it. I am not too traditional and hence do not agree that dress code is essential when you go to any temple or while on a pilgrimage.

Just that, I am concerned about what will happen in the next 50 or 100 years?

I am not going to write much about dress code.

You can wear any dress that’s comfortable for you. But it will be really kind of you, if you wear dress that isn’t too exposing. I saw most of the devotees who comes to Shirdi follows this. There must never be a strict rule about how one must dress in temples or even in Shirdi for that matter.

All that is required is one’s personal interest in wearing decent dress.

For Sai, the way you dress doesn’t matter at all. He just wants you to be simple and pure at heart. At the same time, several different types of devotees come to Shirdi. Hence, please be careful about not falling in eyes of wrong people.
