Show Love to your Mom & Dad when they need you most – Caring for Parents

Hi friends,

I created another site separately to spread this message. I don’t get enough time to take care of seperate websites and I also realized, I must bring everything back to StarSai.

So I am republishing the message in StarSai.com

StarSai Mom & Dad is an expression of my love for my Father and a dedication to “Fathers and Mothers” around the world. Fatherly will list some of the best Books, Gadgets, Mens clothing, accessories and any thing that’s worthy of Gifting your father.

The Best gift you can give your Father:

Everyone loves their Father a lot as he has taken care of the family to bring them up. It is also true that in most families, during some occasions, there are misunderstanding between parents and children. Irrespective such silly fights we have at home, your father loves you no matter who you are.

Your father has dedicated his life for your welfare…

– To educate you, to feed you, to give you the best the world can give and there’s more to it. Not all Father’s can afford or get you what you had been requesting him from childhood or when you grew up.

A Good father may not always fulfill your wish list but he still loves you because you are his only “Wish”

There are times when you might have felt very disappointed and there are times when you feel “Its My Father and he gives me the best, he had done all he can for my welfare’

Why StarSai Mom & Dad ?

I was inspired to create StarSai Mom & Dad based on a dream from Indian Saint Shirdi Sai Baba and also its my long time dream to spread the message of “Taking care of your parents as they get old”

India is now very Young and Vibrant ! We have the most young population among any other countries. Most families now stop with one child and that honestly is good for them. The thing is 15 to 20 years from now all this young population will be in a situation to take care of their elderly parents. This is where problem starts.

The U.S is already facing worst problem since 1 out of 4 American’s are above the age of 50. Every day 10,000 American’s get retired. The task of taking care of parents becomes responsibility of their children and family members. Family care givers deserve a real appreciation.

In Some families, though son or daughter really loves their parents, their work demands them to stay in different city or even country. Parents are moving to Old age homes or managing my themselves.

In China, Parent Care has become a issue to speak out. Seems in some villages there are only elderly people with no one to take care of them as youngsters move to cities for job.

India is gradually moving towards similar situation, if not now, few years from now, Indian youngsters must have enough love, responsibility, patience and opportunity to take care of their Aging parents .

As I said, everyone of us love our Mother and Father but gradually life changes. You get attached to your career, business, wealth, take the side of your husband or wife and loose the opportunity to take care of your parents and show them love when they really need it most.

A beautiful Song from Saint Manikavasagar’s Thiruvasagam says “There are 6 crore Maya Shakti” in this universe to distract you and influence you from being true to yourself.  The power of Illusion – “Maya” has enough ability to forget all that your parents did to bring you up and ignore them as third person.

I know some families are really in difficult situation, problems between husband and wife in taking care of parents, problems due to wealth and practical problems of living in a different city with a busy career or business etc.  When you are reading this remember there is some Father or Mother in pain missing the “Love” in their children.

I hope Fatherly irrespective of being a support site to help me in my spiritual endeavors will keep spreading the message of

“Loving your parents and taking care of them when they really need it most”

Its not necessary that you surprise your Father and Mother with big gifts as I have listed in the website. What matters to your parents is your love. They need you Now and forever.

I just wonder how true the below quotes are…

“Parents are like God because you wanna know they’re out there, and you want them to think well of you, but you really only call when you need something.” ― Chuck Palahniuk

My father said there were two kinds of people in the world: givers and takers. The takers may eat better, but the givers sleep better. – Marlo Thomas

My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, ‘You’re tearing up the grass’; ‘We’re not raising grass,’ Dad would reply. ‘We’re raising boys.’ – Harmon Killebrew

I hope these people have beautifully explained the Greatness of Father. Some where in these quotes you can see your Dad too. If there’s not enough to inspire you, read this beautiful words below…

What Is A Dad?

A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.

A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.

A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail…

– Unknown

Your Father has faith in you.

When he saw you as a new born child, he didn’t expect you are going to take care of him someday and he din’t expect it now when he is old enough to be taken care. He loves you unconditionally and he loves you even if you ignore him because he is your Father.

I will be very happy if everyone who comes to Fatherly got my message right. Do not feel guilty if you cannot take care of your parents due to various reasons but do not hurt them with your words. Show them you are there for them.

tell them “Dad, I am there for you”

I wish to end this with a sweet quote as below …

My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.

– Jim Valvano

Your Father believed in you.

He believes you will take care of him

He believes your love is true

He believes in you because you came from him.

The Purana’s say a Son is one tenth of a Father and so is a daughter I assume to be one tenth of her Mother. Your parents are never away from you.

They live in you. In your palm, In your stomach, In your eyes. Caring for parents is a beautiful thing a son or daughter can do because you actually do it to yourself. There’s no great Punya (Blessing) on earth than taking care of your parents.

I started writing this article casually when my parents were busy doing some household work.  Since Dad was busy Amma asked me to sweep the rooms…I got irritated and swept the house thinking its easy to write about “Caring for Parents” but honestly hard to put in practice.

Trust me. It isn’t hard.

All that you need is Love.

While writing this, My Mom called me to see my dad outside home in rain over looking some construction work as it was raining. I asked him to get in and did the work myself. I came back and wondered if this is what I mean to write.

It could mean anything for each one of you.

Love can never be described !

As quoted by Demitri,

A Father doesn’t tell you that he loves you.

He shows you.

For Such a humble Father who has always shown his love as a treasure, What gift could you give on Earth.
Love your Dad
Love your Mom.
Show them you really Love them.
Hold their palm. Hug them and or at least tell them

“I am there for you “

So the best gift you can give your Father and Mother is your Presence, Your Love and Your touch.

Do little things that you can in your busy life for your Mom and Dad.

The greatest gift you can give your parents is making them believe when you are not around that they have someone to Care. Someone to ask if they had food and if they need something.

I am not asking you to something really big for your parents.

I am asking you to do little you can.

“You can sacrifice anything to take care of parents because they sacrificed everything to take care of you when you were young.

Now, Its your turn.”

Did you had tears in your eyes when you read this. If you are sensitive like me you will because I had when I wrote it.

Love you Appa and Amma…

This is all your Son can do.Tell the world what they already knew but I have to write because Sai wants me to.

I believe that I will be there for you always. Now and forever !

Love,
Venkat

  • Dear Venkat, very true, your thoughts reflects your actions. I sincerely believe that my father who is living with me who is 87 years old, is Sai himself, as I see Sai in each and everything and most in my father.

I always pray that my father should live for ever as healthy as he is now. I am proud that my father even at this age manages so many things, like going to temples, going to Sanskrit Learning Class, doing bhajans and singing carnatic keerthanams etc. etc. every day like his rituals, including sandhya vandanams without fail.

Also, he helps me with cutting vegetables and any other work he could do for my sake. I do not know how to thank Sai, who himself is living with me, who is the pillar, to which I am holding on. My father is sweetest thatha for my children.

Venkat, what else, one wants, except the blessings from our parents, which is going to lead us for ever, till attaining moksha. You are also truly blessed to have such a wonderful parents whom you cherish so much. Keep it up. Sai is with all of us, guiding us……….

Bolo Sainath Maharaj Ki Jai…………………………Sairam, Sairam, Sairam, Sairam, Sairam, Sairam, Sairam……………ram, ram, ram, ram, ram, ram, ram, ram, ram, ram…………Always praying for your wellbeing………….Shankari

I too love my parents and my sister very much.the thing is when we are very small that we cant do anything by our self, our parents do everything 4 us. But when our turn comes to do even something 4 them. We lost my father, this is the very bad luck for us.

I pray to god baba, no one will not suffer for this type of problem. I think they are the best gift from the god. And we should value them. Really like ur effort to spread this wonderful message to overall ” Om Sri Sai Ram”

  • venkat ji I really admire ur writings.U not only write about ur parents but also remind me of my parents. What I m today it is all due to my father. It is due to his support only that i have learnt many things which was a dream for me. My father always says two things:-

    1. A daughter is a daughter throughout d life & a son is a son till he gets wife.

    2. bhagwan jaha karanti prani ra mangal payein.i.e. whatever god does does 4 d wellbeing of peoples. jai sai.

pls. pardon me for giving a lot of pains & disrespect to my nana.Still i love my father.

  • “i love my parents a lot “…….but i simply fight with my parents…it hurts them and then i regret coz i never wish to do that…..so i stop talking to baba for few secondzz becoz y did he allowed me do tht.. these few secondz even though i am cutties with baba…om sai, omsai chanting is there in my heart.. that has become a part of mine…..im scared if this chanting of heart is not ther…whenever im to do anything i think of baba..my one nd nly frnd…and he gives me the right advice…and attimes i even think the other way…no its not true..

its simply my mind speaking something…nd i ignore that…but definitely at some other point of time he wil convince tht it was babajis advice..nd tht i must follow tht for my wellbeing..
