Sai Vrat Pooja has contributed in making new Sai devotees happy

Sairam friends,

I wrote this article about Sai Vrat Pooja back in 2005. In those days, I used to get many mails regarding the pooja and my answer would always be as below.

  1. Should I never have any food?

Sai Baba don’t like his devotees starving. So you can have little veg food. You can have fruits, Coffee, Tea, Milk etc.

2. Can I skip a week and continue the pooja?

Yes you can. It’s your comfort.

3. Should I distribute the book after 9 weeks.

I have a different perception in this issue. You can simply go to temple or be at home and do pooja. If possible, give sweets or food packets. If not, see if there are any good ethical orphanage and give donate money for food there. I don’t deny distributing books but I don’t think that’s necessary too.

Sai Vrat Pooja in what ever form it is done today, never existed during Baba’s life time. There was a pooja called Sai Sathyanarayana pooja if I can remember it right. I also ask devotees to read a chapter in Sai Satcharitra rather than the story related to Sai Vrat pooja because I believe a Saints life is powerful.

Anyway.

I still like Sai Vrat Pooja for one reason.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees who are new to Sai Bhakti, have done it. When people just started their journey with Sai, this Sai Vrat Pooja has helped them connect with Sai in a great way.

It has contributed in making new Sai devotees happy because some do say that their wishes came true after doing the pooja.
