Why some people earn a lot and other’s less? Saibaba buys fruits

Sairam friends,

Yesterday at work, my friend gave us home made chocolates made by his wife and I was really surprised as it was packed nicely and encouraged them as I felt its creative. I went to Saibaba temple at night, climbed on the terrace and offered Garland. I came home, did some editing work and told Saibaba to guide me in dream. I was blessed with a good dream and thanked Sai for that.

Sometimes we wonder why some people are blessed to earn better, lead a very comfortable life and others though hard working and skillful earn less. I believe Sai Devotees must be content with what they earn as long as they are able to lead their life peacefully. That doesn’t mean you must not try to earn better. Its just that you must not take risk in investing money or leaving job and doing business etc unless you are sure of success in your endeavor.

The below incident during Shirdi Saibaba’s life time explains the same. You might have to read it few times and apply it in your life to understand Sai.

Saibaba buys fruits

It was a very beautiful season for Custard Apple ( Seethapal). Many women in the villages of Maharastra used to carry basket full of fruits on their head and sell them going house to house.  Sai knows his close devotees likes Seethapal fruit. Sai never store money with him for long. Even when he does, he will keep few coins safe to be given as gift to a specific devotee who might come for his darshan in next few days. When he wants to buy something, he either uses the coins he got the day before or request the devotees present near him to give me as dakshina.

Once, during a fine morning, Saibaba was sitting in the Dwarakamai.  A women selling Seethapal came to Shirdi and reached Dwarakamai. She say Saibaba and requested him to buy. First, She demanded high prices for the fruits.

Sai din’t bother her much as he was not satisfied with her price. Then the women begged Saibaba to take 6 fruits for 10 Annas. Sai immediately bought the fruits.

Before Saibaba was about the pay this first women, another women selling Seethapal in her baskets came near Dwarakamai. Now, Saibaba bargained with her.

Sai said “For 10 fruits, I will give only 6 Annas”

The second women agreed.

So now Saibaba has purchased Seethapal for totally 16 Annas which is 1 Rupee.

Sai called Shyama and asked how much should be payed for these women. Shyama said One Rupee.

Baba din’t had money with him. So he requested Kaka Mahajani ( Sai calls him Bhav)

“Bhav, Will you give me Rs.2?”

That man gave the 2 Rupees as requested by Baba.

Then Baba called the first women and paid her 1 Rupee ( Though she only asked for 10 Annas)

Baba called the second Women and paid her also 1 Rupee ( Though Sai bargained her to give fruits for 6 Annnas)

Why some people earn a lot and other’s less?

Bhav asked “Baba, I don’t understand all this. Can you make me understand?”

Baba replied him  ” What is the difficulty? When the first Women came fruits were scarce ( Demand was more as supply is less). So 10 Annas for 6 Fruits was settled. When the Second Women came, we already had fruits. ( Demand was less). So 6 Annas for 10 fruits was settled.

Though I bargained, I actually paid them more – 1 Rupee for both of them.  As for actual payment, each was paid according to her Bhagya ( Poorva Karma).

From this Small incident we must understand that Sai cares for every one and each will get what they deserve based on the good and bad deeds they did in previous birth and this birth. Some people who earn a lot might have done lots of Good deeds and so God is able to bless them with fortune.

Some people earn a little. So God expects them to be content with what they have.

Sai has encouraged few to try to earn better and to some people, he requested not to take risk. Basically, Sai will make sure his Children’s basic needs are satisfied and I have experienced it myself. This leela also shows Sai never shows any partiality between people who work hard to earn money. If you work hard, you will surely be blessed.

Example -Though both women were asked to sell Seethapal for lesser price, Sai knows they are poor and gave them 1 rupee each equally.

We must never compare yourself with others who are doing better in their life. We must focus on our own life and be happy for what we are blessed with.

Hope you like this Sai leela friends

  • Dear Venkat Ji,
Very meaningful post. After reading this I want to reiterate the line from a Tamil song – Pikshai Pathiram

    Porulukku alainthidum porulathra vazhkaiyum thurathuthae…
Un arul arul arul endru alaingindra manam ingu pitharuthae….

  • Well explanation, it means there is no need to worry if our hard work may not give better result as we expected… but our hard work should not be stopped to fulfill our dreams…Keep trying completely..go on go on for work..
